the little kadazan girl

Muka baru bangun masa di kampung

This little girl has majority Kadazan blood and a little bit of Chinese blood.
Most of the Kadazan people looks like Chinese because they have fair skin.
Mommy no, mommy is hitam manis :)
Daddy is so and so...

I don't know if I could be labelled as a Sabahan since I was born in Kuala Lumpur,
but mommy said I am always a Sabahan, and to be precise, a Kadazan by race.
That means, I cound enter the Unduk Ngadau contest,
Unduk Ngadau is a beauty pageant contest and you could see a lot of the native sabahan girls with their beautiful traditional costumes, that usually take place in the month of May, every year.

I recently went back for daddy's youngest sister's wedding and I got the chance to wear my traditional costume. My costume is actually modified, I loved that baju and refused to change it with the gown that mommy ironed that morning.

 With Kakak Anna

 With Jon-Jon, my first cousin

Daddy and her favorite girl!!

The baju is made from 100% velvet, and super hot when you are under the sun, but somehow I survived with that baju until that evening, I even visited the buffalo in the evening, and had the sense of feeling like gadis kampung.

bangun pagi management for pre-schooler

Oh nooo... not this photo.
Would you like to see the real me in my school uniform?

A sleepy toddler in her school uniform..
Well, as what Auntie Liza told mommy, "Warna-warna yang kurang memberangsangkan!"

But I do love my school uniform, I wore them proudly every morning, daddy make sure the yellow and blue gown is ironed nicely in the morning, and he did the ironing most of the time as mommy got another big task, to wake me up while inserting a little bit of drama; where sometimes I will run naked back to the bed! But after being poured with water for a few times, I will get back to the reality, and ready to gown up and yeah, welcoming a new day with the same weekdays routine.

My mommy advise for the first-time-mommies with pre-schooler toddlers:

1) Drama will happen. Mommies got to change strategy each morning. Lucky for mommies if your kids got up with a big smile to start their day. But trust my mommy, drama is interesting and play your roles!

2) Show the kids the nicely ironed school uniform haha! If that doesn't work, tell them that you will give the dress away to your pets. Sometimes I hate Onton for that reason, mommy wanted to dress her in my school uniform if I don't go to school.

3) For girls, put on some make up on them hahaha. It works! Even if just a talcum powder, rub it in between of your palm and then rub it on your kid's face, insert along this praise, "Wahhh!! Cantiknyaaaaaa anak mommy!" Kids liked it!! In my case, mommy put a nice colour on my nails...

jari jemari seksi kan?

4) Sleep early. This is the biggest challenge for my mommy. Kids must have enough sleep between 8-10 hour for them to get up fresh in the morning. I slept late almost every night, getting a longer sleep at night for me is mommy's biggest target now. Meaning that, no late night TV programmes for my parents. When it comes to sleep, everyone must sleep, all lights on off mode, no laptop or ipod, even Onton also would squeeze herself comfortably at the corner of our bed! See, this is what we called COOPERATION!

Good luck mommies!

bacteria infection

I started to develop a mild fever on saturday morning but the fever was gone in the afternoon. Then it came back the next day early morning, afternoon gone and until monday morning, the sign of fever was still there. Mommy decided to bring me to see the doctor, plus I have no more fever medicine in our fridge.

I was entertained by a sweet Chinese nurse, she seems so comfortable with children and talked to me all the time and I just replied by giving her a confused look since I don't really understand what she was saying.

"You Charmaine such a pretty girl, you're 3 and so tall!"
While putting the thermometer under my armpit.
"I know you're such a good girl, would you like to stand here?"
She just wanted to weight me!
"You know Charmaine, this machine is amazing, if you put your finger here, it will make a beep beep sound here!" All what she wanted was just my finger.

I behaved very well and daddy was so proud of me, while mommy thinks that I have a super ego in me, therefore I don't look scared. I was only scared of the sikh doctor as he was wearing a turban with his massive janggut. I quickly did whatever he asks.. open your mouth... ahhhh... breath in... breath out... He suggested for blood test after that.

Mommy was super panicked. She have always been scared of needles poking her veins, sucking her blood or the drip, and yet hoping for me to be a doctor. And so being overly concern and loving mommy, she held my head until I can't turn anyway, she also hugged me tightly. I was not comfortable.... so I pushed her away and said, "tepiiiilah mommy. isk..isk... tak payah tak payah!" I went through the procedure calmly. "She didn't cry?" the doctor was also asking her. Everyone in that room was expecting me to scream and cry and they were well prepared hahahaa...well, we kids also know how to manage our emotion ok...

After 20 minutes, the result came out. I am free from denggi and viral... but slightly infected by bacteria, not so high and I don't even need the antibiotic, only the fever medicine. Doctor advise mommy to make me drink water more often. Mommy was sooo relieved.

And how to make a toddler to drink more water? Easy... mommy bought me a new drinking bottle in pink colour (my favorite) with Dora The Explorer on it!

And daddy scolded mommy since then because I have been non-stop drinking...

my first homework

Daddy was rushing to the office right after sending me home. He told mommy I got my homework from school that I need to do and had asked mommy to help me with it. What kind of homework for a 3 year old toddler? Easy peasy, mommy thought!

Since I enrolled for the class in early march and the rest of my mates enrolled in January, I have soooo many things on my plate that I need to catch up. Blamed it on mommy for refusing to send me to school earlier!!!! We usuallly did the homeworks in school but since I was late, I have to bring them home, as my teachers says, "Charmaine dah ketinggalan banyak!"

And there mommy had marked another history in her motherhood journey, the first homework with her only daughter.

Before we got started, mommy would like to advise all mommies out there:

1) Please make sure you have an additional stationary at home at all times (do not believe your kids to bring back their stationary as what you have provided earlier)

2) Please make sure you have done your house chores before you started. It will take you hours just to colour a bunny!

3) Be strong mommies, you have the tendency to help the kids with their homeworks with you left hand, but your kids will learn nothing.

4) Your kids going to be malas most of the time, will give you thousand of excuses! Tangan sakitlah, kaki gatal, nak minum air, pensil patah etc.. but then again, be firm and must pujuk us, insert praises in between just to cheer us up, never ever make a comment, "baby, donkeys were never born in pink!", silap haribulan you will get a tantrum from your kids!

This is an a. I have been practising to write a in school, but the teacher had given another A4 sheet with lots of a in dotted line. My task is just to write a according to the dotted line. It took mommy almost an hour just to make sure I finish the whole sheet. The teacher had asked me to write with pencil but mommy allowes me to use colour pencils (mommy psycho me with colours). Of course I scolded Onton in between, "Jangan tiliak (teriak) Onton, kakak nak belajar buku rabbit!". I wrote with both hands. I do strech my hands in between too.

And the outcomes

Mommy was happy with my effort! And the homework made me restless... I asked mommy for my pillows after that, and I skipped my youtube session that night.

my little bestfriend, Sasha

This is a story of a little girl and her best friend.

You often watch it in the fiction drama or movie. But this is the real scenario happening in my childhood. I have my nursery mates, and now my fellow classmates, but I will always have her as my soulmate. You may have read about her in my previous entries years ago, but its time to bring back the good memory and the current her...
Luisa Marise Terence, and I called her Sasha (pelat punya pasal)

We often meet during weekends, I love her to bit. This little fellow is my best friend and she used to bully me when we were babies, but now, things have changed. I take the role of being the big sister and take her favorite toys if I like them. Mama (her mommy) would always ask her to give in, she is always in tears yet, she still love me and never take my toys as her revenge. The last meeting, I took her barbie phone and her doll complete with botol susu.

We often talk over the phone when we are not meeting each other. But our parents are always giving us surprises by going makan-makan, outings and karaoke sessions. We ended up playing, not eating, and do our own things. When its time to say our good-bye, we will create scenes of drama with tears, sometimes, Sasha will go to her parents, kissed them good night and walked into our car.

You guys will never understand the love I have for her, even my parents couldn't understand it, such of little girls we are, but our relationship is pure and innocent. Our parents are always praying for us to be the bestest sisters to our siblings (future if any), to each other, the good instruments of God, and hoping that we are not going to fall in love with the same boy (palis-palis).

That is Sara, Sasha's only sister!

the future swimmer

I love everything to do with water.

Daddy has a big dream for me to represent Malaysia in the Olympic games in future, and of course in swimming And for that, he has exposed me a lot to water, he is trying hard to train me, no worries as daddy is a certified Life Guard. This one mommy cannot do because she can't swim. Hahahahahahahaha...

I enjoyed the wave, the sea and salt water!

I love lazying by the pool once in a while.

If too desperate for a pool and no one cares to bring me, I will just pop into this pail. This is what mommy used to stock up water for Memex and the outside cats to drink.

milestone

OK at last this is the continuation of my milestone development.

My parents have placed me in a nursery since I was 2 month old, right after mommy done with her maternity leave, my parents need to go to work to support the family economy, and also to fulfill my desire (need) on my stuff.

That nursery provides not only day care, but also transit and kindergarten services (we have the smart reader syllabus as well). And so, I have been given the opportunity to sing and dance and had also learnt with my seniors, of course in my pyjama.

Early this year, I have been actively sneaking into the pre-nursery class (for kids aged 3-4). Yeay!! Since the principal know me very well, she allows it. When she asked if I like to study, I nodded as I always like the books and uniforms. Then the principal asked mommy, but mommy was not keen as she said I am 'too young'. I had rebelled by taking Emily's books and cried wholeheartedly when the teachers asked me to return it. And the principal called again and finally mommy got convinced, the principal not only had breathed a huge sigh of relieve, but also thanked mommy for the trust given to her. I think she can sleep well after the last telephone call with mommy.

28 Feb 2013, I woke up earlier than usual, shower and gown up, all ready with a smile. I even packed my own stuff in my pink barbie's bag. Books, pencils, colour and Appollo is a must - but actually books and stationeries and food is provided in my school. See how excited I am mommy. I only wore the official uniform on the next day, the day that we were supposed to dress in sports shirt but I insisted to wear the uniform that is yellow and blue in color, I was so excited and school life is hilarious. The only thing mommy would need to adjust is my sleeping pattern. Mommy is trying to cut down my addiction on youtube as that habit would delay my sleeping time. Lack of sleep could cause stress on kids, and that would disturb my concentration in class. Not healthy kan?

Parents, do send my fellow friends to school/nursery/tadika if they wanted too, young is not a valid reason anymore as experts says, the active brain development for kids is from one to six years. This is the right time for us to learn and learning is our nature. We are the next generation of our country, do train us since young, you never know where life is going to take us. I could be the next astronaut, if not the fashionable IT expert, who knows?
